St. maries musica

"Where words fail, music speaks"

-Hans Christian Andersen

Our spring and Christmas concert seasons bring choral entertainment to Southern Maryland and beyond. We specialize in madrigal and other historic choral styles. However, we sing a wide variety of musical styles from "today" and "yesteryear".

Christmas - December is filled with our concerts - finds us in our Renaissance costumes, singing carols and seasonal music from several different time periods.

Spring (May of each year) - you'll see us dressed in "formal" attire. Generally our song selections are from the 20th century but we're known to toss in a few surprises. In 2012, Musica began the Festival Chorus, a non-auditioned choral group to join Musica in presenting major works that require a larger chorus for performances. A whole new musical arena has opened up for us.

Treat yourself and your family to a fun and memorable concert by our group of 24 volunteer professional vocalists!

Nearly all of our concerts are open to the public and "free" - no admission fee. However, our final concert of each season is ticketed:

$10 for Adults

FREE for Students and Children

Here’s the schedule for our current concert season.

St. Maries Musica is also a nonprofit organization. And even though our singers volunteer their time and talents, we do have expenses. So we are most grateful to everyone who supports us with their financial donations

Tickets are now available for the February 11, 2018 Fourth Annual  SMCA Cabaret Fundraiser, "My Funny Valentine". This popular event will be held at Elements Eatery and Mixology, 46580 Expedition Dr., Lexington Park, MD. Join us for great song and food to support St. Maries Choral Arts.  Tickets are $25.00.  Click HERE to purchase tickets.

During the fall 2106 and spring 2017 seasons, St. Maries Musica was under the direction of Anthony Blake Clark. Blake is an energetic, knowledgeable and dynamic director.  We grew enormously as musicians and as an ensemble under his guidance.  However, he was 'discovered' by the Baltimore Choral Arts organization and was selected as its new Artistic Director.  Although we are saddened to lose him, this is a remarkable opportunity for Blake.  We are thrilled for him!

Fortunately, we are pleased to announce that Musica has a new Artistic Director!   Musica will continue our choral journey under the leadership of Teresa (T.C.) O'Brien (Mazzeo). T.C. recently retired from teaching in the Charles County School System. Please click HERE to read all about her career in music.  We are very lucky to have her!

Interested in joining us? Musica spring auditions for 2018 will be held January 8 & 15, 2018 at Leonardtown High School 6-7 pm.   Please fill out the form below and our Audition Committee Chair, Janet Baker, will contact you about establishing a time for your audition.   We look forward to meeting you!
