St. Maries singers
Creative Conductor and Artistic Director
St. Maries Singers; a subset of St. Maries Choral Arts, Inc.
July 15, 2019 or until filled.
St. Maries Singers, a non-auditioned community choir in Southern Maryland, seeks a dynamic and creative Conductor and Artistic Director to continue the St. Maries Choral Arts tradition of providing creative musical entertainment in our tri-county communities (St. Mary’s, Calvert and St. Charles counties). St. Maries Singers was founded to augment St. Maries Musica so that choral pieces that require a larger group of singers could be performed. In 2015, an umbrella organization, St. Maries Choral Arts, was formed to include St. Maries Musica, St. Maries Minstrels, St. Maries Singers, St. Maries Children’s Chorus, and St. Maries Acappella. The important advantage of St. Maries Singers is that there is no audition required for singing with the group. It is the perfect place for singers to enjoy the advantages of choral singing without the demands of multiple performances during the season. There is a part-time paid accompanist.
This is a paid position, commensurate with experience. Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in Music or Music Education and at least 1 year of experience in concert programming and choral conducting. A Master’s Degree and some experience working with adult choirs is preferred. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
