St. maries musica

"Where words fail, music speaks"

-Hans Christian Andersen

Our spring and Christmas concert seasons bring choral entertainment to Southern Maryland and beyond. We specialize in madrigal and other historic choral styles. However, we sing a wide variety of musical styles from "today" and "yesteryear".

Christmas - December is filled with our concerts - finds us in our Renaissance costumes, singing carols and seasonal music from several different time periods.

Spring (May of each year) - you'll see us dressed in "formal" attire. Generally our song selections are from the 20th century but we're known to toss in a few surprises. In 2012, Musica began the Festival Chorus, a non-auditioned choral group to join Musica in presenting major works that require a larger chorus for performances. A whole new musical arena has opened up for us.

Treat yourself and your family to a fun and memorable concert by our group of volunteer professional vocalists!

Nearly all of our concerts are open to the public and "free" - no admission fee. However, our final concert of each season is ticketed:

$10 for Adults

FREE for Students and Children

Here’s the schedule for our current concert season.

St. Maries Musica is also a nonprofit organization. And even though our singers volunteer their time and talents, we do have expenses. So we are most grateful to everyone who supports us with their financial donations.

2020 Cabaret

The February 16, 2019 Fifth Annual Cabaret WAS AMAZING!  THANKS to everyone who attended and participated. Our 2020 Cabaret will be held Friday and Saturday February, 15 and 16, 2020 at The Lighthouse, Solomons, MD. You read that correctly! We will present our Cabaret on 2 consecutive days to meet the demand for this event. Tickets will be available soon so check here later this year. Thank you for your support of this event.

Upcoming Events

St. Maries  Choral Arts has other concerts this fall.  Please join us for one of these events.

In July of 2017, St. Maries Musica hired Teresa (T.C.) O'Brien (Mazzeo) as its Artistic Director.  Under her leadership Musica has grown not only in number but in quality.     T.C. recently retired from teaching in the Charles County School System. We are very lucky to have her!

Interested in joining us? Auditions for the Spring 2020 season will be held Monday, November 8 & 15, 2019, between 6:00 and 7:00 pm at Leonardtown High School.  We are especially interested in recruiting tenors and basses. Click on "MUSICA AUDITIONS" to  fill out the form and our Audition Committee Chair will contact you about establishing a time for your audition.   We look forward to meeting you!

If you are a student and are interested in the Intern Program, select the “INTERN AUDITIONS” button.
