Communication

SMCC will communicate with students and parents primarily via email and Facebook. Students and parents receive emails on a regular basis regarding rehearsal schedules, performances and other important events. Please be sure to keep us updated with any email address changes.

If you do not use email, please advise us on the best way to contact you.

Registration/Tuition

We ask that SMCC singers register at the beginning of each season. Vital information for each singer may change during the year so registration offers an opportunity to update this information. Here is the LINK to SMCC Registration. There is a link to pay tuition in the SMCC Registration.

Tuition is $75.00 per singer and will be collected twice a year. Payments are made once in September for the fall semester and once in January for the spring semester. Here is the LINK to pay tuition.
Tuition fees are non-refundable.

Registration can be completed through the link sent to you in a parent email as well as the link above.

Auditions

Auditions for the 2019 Spring season were held February 7, 2019. You may submit an audition form for the next season at any time. You will be contacted when auditions are held. Here is the link to the SMCC Auditions site.

Eligibility: Any young musician grades 2-8 and up may audition.  Younger musicians may be accepted at the discretion of the Director.
Audition includes: Students are asked to come ready to sing one prepared song of their choice.

Song examples:

  • Happy Birthday

  • My Country ‘Tis of Thee

  • Jingle Bells

  • Row Row Row Your Boat

  • My Favorite Things

  • Do, a Deer

  • Are You Sleeping?

  • Twinkle, Twinkle

The audition will also include a Vocalization section where the director will lead the singer in gentle warm ups to listen to his/her vocal range.
The final portion of the audition will include patterns. The student will be asked to imitate to the best of their ability short musical patterns by singing back what is sung to them.

Weather Conditions

In the event that a rehearsal or concert has to be cancelled for inclement weather, the information will be posted on our website/facebook and emailed. In general we will follow CSM's weather policy unless CSM is open and the church is not properly shoveled. We do our best to make the final call by 4 pm on rehearsal days.

Attendance

The success of our program depends upon the FULL participation of each musician. We recognizes that events such as school, sports, and family activities may conflict with SMCC rehearsals and that illnesses occur. Each student is allowed no more than three excused absences in each semester.

If you are aware of an absence, please fill out the absence form.

Students who have absences in excess of the allowance may be required to sit out for the upcoming concert. Students who miss any of the last three rehearsals before a concert may be required to sit out for the upcoming concert. Please notify the director or manager of an absence as far ahead as possible.
