2024 SMCA Spring Season
SMCA continues our return to rehearsals and performances by St. Maries Musica and St. Maries Chorale. Rehearsals are held on Monday evenings at First Saints Community Church, 25550 Point Lookout Road, Leonardtown, MD, 20650. Rehearsals for the 2024 spring season begin January 15, 2024. The combined choirs rehearse from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. St. Maries Musica rehearses from 8pm to 9:30 pm. We encourage anyone interested in singing to read the descriptions of our two choirs below.
St. Maries Chorale
St. Maries Chorale is our non-auditioned Choir. We invite any adult singer to join us for the spring season. Members of St. Maries Musica and former St. Maries Singers, along with any new singers, will combine into one large choir, St. Maries Chorale. St. Maries Musica
St. Maries Musica is an auditioned choir for singers 18 and older. Auditions are held at the beginning of the fall and spring seasons. The fall season celebrates the holidays in December with 5-8 concerts. Singers are dressed in Madrigal costumes. The spring season presents music around a theme. There are fewer concerts in the spring and members are attired in black formal wear. We have restructured our ensembles and all Musica members will now also automatically be members of our non-auditioned choir Chorale. Chorale and Musica will rehearse together from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Musica will rehearse from 8:00 pm to 9:30 pm. Musica tuition includes Chorale and members are not expected to pay both dues. Musica Auditions
The auditions for St. Maries Musica are now closed for the 2024 spring season. Auditions for the 2024 Winter season will be announced later this year. Please check our website for the date later this year.
SMCA Artistic Director
Dr. Bethany Alvey is the SMCA Artistic Director. She will be directing St. Maries Chorale and St. Maries Musica.
SMCA Accompanist
Emily Zawada is the SMCA Accompanist. She will be accompanist for St. Maries Chorale and St. Maries Musica.
